Christmas 2017

Hey y'all, here are all our ups and downs of Christmas 2017...(mostly ups)
We drove over to Matt's parents house on Christmas Eve after church and enjoyed a really nice lunch and opening presents.  Lance loves to play the piano when he is over there or at least pretend.

Clarice was so happy about the doll her Grammy got her.
The kids just love going to Grammy and Grandfather's house!

On Christmas day we drove over to Baba's house and saw my side of the family.  Clarice loved looking at the dogs.

Lots of selfies...

And lots of food...they had a Low Country Boil.

We are so thankful for both sides of our families.  We are very blessed!

On Tuesday Clarice and I thought we were going to volunteer at the food pantry, but it got cancelled.  This was information I could have used before I drove there, but that's ok.  Clarice and I had fun driving around and getting lost and stumbling across a horse pasture.  I just had to stop and let her see them.  She really loves horses.

For the "down" part of Christmas, our hot water heater had an electrical fire on Tuesday night.  We had to call 911 and get the kids out of bed and out of the house.  Thankfully we were home when it happened and the fire department said it was just the hot water heater.  We got a new one the next day.  It was a rough way to round out our year.  We are still very thankful about the timing, and we are really trying to stay positive about everything.

All is ok now...especially when I can cuddle up with these cuties.

A few weeks ago I ordered a shirt that said "thankful."  I am really trying y'all!

recent stuff...Christmas edition

Last Friday Matt had the day off work so we were able to go out to lunch on our own!  Merry Christmas to me!

Clarice acting like an elf at Chick-fil-A

The other day I handed off a little gift to Lance's school bus driver.  That particular day they were having trouble with one of the students, and I noticed that the driver has an assistant who was helping her.  My heart dropped as I handed the driver the gift.  So, I was so excited to make a last minute trip to Hobby Lobby the other day and get the assistant this cute mug that was 50% off!

Clarice and I went to pay the utility bill, and I wanted her to pose in front of the tree...or at least just stand still.  Even the grouchy receptionist got a kick out of watching us!

The kids are now out of school.  Yesterday while Clarice was taking a nap (I think she fell asleep but I'm not sure), Lance put down his I-Pad and picked up a paint brush.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

P.S. I finally did our snow days video.  You can find it here.

SAHM Job Experience

A few years ago I decided to start my own company.  Right away I was in charge of recruiting my own personnel which meant giving birth to the notion that my time, my body, my energy, and my money were no longer mine.  Apparently I didn't know what I was getting myself into.  The early days involved working the day shift AND the night shift.  I put my chin up and my chest outward and marched on.

The team I assembled had a hard time getting along with me and with each other.  They seemed quite whiny, and were somewhat unresponsive to the basic rules I put in place.  I made my points quite clear that I was in charge, but I still ended up with egg on my face.

Since we all had to work long hours together, I was also put in charge of my teams nutritional input.  Unfortunately for me, I was also in charge of managing, cleaning, and worrying over the output which took up a good bit of our budget not to mention all my energy.

I was also my company's buyer, so my team and I would strategize over our buying options.  We came up with lists and more lists.   Finally we would brave the elements and go out to find how little our funds would carry.

Transportation was a bit of an issue for my team, so as you can guess, I was put in charge of that too.  Their lack of motivation for themselves, and gratitude towards me was beginning to wear on me.  I put on a brave face and plowed ahead.

As the years ticked slowly by, my team became better communicators.  They became very vocal about what they wanted and when they wanted it.  The feedback was appreciated since most of the conversations and brain storming sessions up to this point seemed one-sided.

The company is now flourishing and is making the world a brighter place.  I'm  very thankful for my team members who pushed me to becoming who I truly am...a Stay At Home Mommy.  :)

snow in Georgia

It is Georgia!  December is a bit early for us, so it should be an interesting winter.  Hope you like the pictures.  I am working on making a video, but am having trouble with the technical stuff.  I'll let you all know when I get it up on YouTube.

Hope you all have a great weekend.  It is still snowing here!  We are so excited!  :)

We have been doing lots of jumping around here lately.  Clarice got to go to a birthday jump party two weeks ago.  It was in the evening, but she still behaved really well and had a lot of fun.

New PJs and slippers

One good thing about the recent (and more frequent) no-nap days is that she passes out on top of me at 7:30 at night.

The place we volunteer every month is having a Christmas tree sale.

Lance got to be part of the Sunday morning service and carried a Poinsettia.

Going out for ice cream

And lastly, Lance has really enjoyed writing more.  He wrote "jet" on one paper and "jump" on another.  He also likes to write the alphabet in bubble letters.

Hope you all have a great week!

weekend stuff

We've had a tough time of everyone being sick lately, but thankfully we are mostly all better.  Getting sick and then being well again will really make you grateful!  Here is what we have been up to lately...

Lance and I went to see Baba last weekend and he fell asleep on the way home

Yesterday (Saturday) Clarice and I went to a Super Hero Dress Up Birthday Party

The kids have had fun playing outside...can't forget Teddy

The house gets really quiet around 8pm when we can finally read

This morning before church I made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies

Trying to get people to say cheese...or at least look in this direction

This afternoon we ate lunch at Matt's parents house

School is out this week so I'm not sure if I'll be able to listen to this is good so far

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving week.  I'm so thankful for my bloggy friends!

so frustrated...

Back in August I got an e-mail reminding me of the monthly book club that I used to go to when I lived in Covington.  After re-arranging my schedule, I was finally able to attend a get together today (in November).  Although I was so happy to see my girlfriends again, I was disappointed that the first topic of conversation was my Rosacea.  What?  Seriously?  I know that people care about me and want the best for me, but why do we have to talk about how red I look?  It is so frustrating that this is such a big part of my life.

Anyway, I just had to vent!  I love having this blog as an outlet for sounding off the good and bad stuff in my life.  So, thank you for listening!

She put the little "c" in retroactive!

Sometimes I take pictures of books (or newspaper articles about them) that I might want to read later

Lastly, I finally got this one from the library.  I better hurry up and read it...there are 106 other people on the waiting list for it.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Books, football & being thankful

The kids and I spent two hours at the book warehouse last Saturday.  It went ok when they stayed in the boxes, but when they were running around everywhere we just had to end up leaving.  I'm sort of glad it was the last day to volunteer.

The Georgia Bulldogs had their last two games on basic cable, so Matt and I were able to watch them.  I think we're bringing them good!
couple selfie

I don't do parent homework, so Clarice drew a picture of what she is thankful for
So, she is either thankful for crochet yarn, or this wasn't an age appropriate!

And speaking of are her very expensive school pictures

Lastly, I finally updated my other blog with a book review
You can view it here.

our trip to Athens...Georgia part 2

As the previous post stated, we were having lots of fun exploring Athens, Georgia.  Although we had quite a ways to walk, we finally made ...
